And I managed to go to Cambodia, not to the capital, but to the most important city in my perspective: Siem Reap.

Cambodia is a country about which you do not ussually know much, just that it is near Vietnam, they had a war and that they have an UNESCO heritage temple there.  Those were exactly the things which I knew before going there, but now, I must admit that there is much more to that country than this.

First of all, Cambodia has one of the saddest history I have ever heard. Until 1998, the country was ruled by Pol Pot, in the so known Khmer Rouge regime. This crazy comunist ruler maneged to kill 2 milion people by execution, malnutrition and slavery, and ending it up with a war that consumed the country. They way that the khmer people were living under his ruling is just awful, and it is mainly the reason for the existing low economy and lack of development of the country. The roads and the transportation are from the last century, but the tourism is starting to grow as the country has the biggest religious place protected by UNESCO.

And yes, Ankor Wat is a beautiful place, where you can just enjoy the beautiful nature and the peacefull landscape. I think it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. But not only the temples made me love this country, but everythig: the tul tuk drivers which are talking to you in a very nice way and know how to take no for an answer ( unlike the ones in Thailand), the food which is great and very cheap ( from $2- $4 per meal), the great french baguettes that you can have there ( i missed good bread here in Asia), the healthy food and the vegetable based food that they are cooking ( I totally recomend the vegetable rolls, they are just awesome), the cheap and very very very good khmer massage and the cheap bear- $0.50 a beer.

This country has such a quiet and non poluted vibe, where you just can enjoy a walk in the park, go and visit the museum and learn about the history of the country and the temple, and just relax and enjoy. It is for sure the place in Asia where I recommend anyone to go and just recharge the bateries.

Yes, they have crazy things to try as crocodile burger, happy pizza and other bugs that you can try, cheap things you can buy, so I think that I can for sure say that Cambodia is a country for any type of tourist.

See you soon Cambodia!
