Puglia is gaining more and more spotlight latelly when it comes to places to travel in Italy. If you are bored with the northern part of Italy or you just want to take a look on another side of Italy ( and a cheaper one), I totally recomend a trip here.
The capital of the region-Bari- is a great starting point but also a cheap flight destination as well. I am going to share my 5 days itinerary from the month of April, on a small geataway that I planned with 2 of my friends, but please note that when I was planning for this, it was meant to be a solo trip. As I have been in more then 1 place, I will present each place individually but here I will give you a general idea of the region.
Just some general information that might be of your interest:

1. The weather was good, mainly between 12-18 degrees ( which for the begining of April is amazing!) but we also got 1 day and a half of rain. It doesn't get cold, but the rain is a bit annoying, but anyways we still had stuff to do and see.
2. And by cheap, I mean cheap for an Europe trip. Meals between 8-20 euro and 1 glass of prosecco or Aperol 3-3.5 euro. Pretty affordable.

3. You have to eat fish! You just have to..it is too fresh and to good not to. Just giving you a fair warning from before. You will not regret this.
4. In April 2018, the train route toward Alberobello was suspended ( and it will still be until June as I understood) but they have it solved and there is a bus which is picking you up at the train station and taking you to your destination.
5. Transportation- I have travelled by train and bus, and both of them super reliable. You have both buses ( 1 euro a ticket) and train ( 5 euro a ticket) to take you from the airport to Bari Centrale. Choose which ever comes sooner, in my case it was the train- 20 minutes ride. Be carefull though in the weekend- Sundays the buses don't work and the trains are reduced, so make sure to keep this in mind.
6. Language- People will understand English but they will speak it a bit funny. If you know any Spanish, this is your moment to put it at use, if not... use slow English.
7. People are very very helpfull and they will do their best to help you with everything.
8. The entire region was very safe..we were 3 females and we never ever had any problem whatsoever. So don't worry, the region is safe.

9. Siesta time :) this is something to keep acount of. Most places will be closed between 2 pmand 4 pm, but the mojarity of restaurants open at 19:00!!! During this time you can either shop, go siteseeing of just take a nap, it is up to you .Just make sure you take your lunch before this time. Italians are pretty serios with their siesta.
10. Make sure you have cash with you, as you will find mainly small familly restaurants or caffee which don't have card payments. Better have cash with you.
I hope this is going to be usefull as just some things to keep in touch while planning your trip. I will add my suggestions of what to see, do and eat for the region in the following post.
