One vital skill that I realized I needed when traveling was to learn how to hunt for affordable plane tickets. Because I know this is an important aspect when you are traveling on a budget, I want to share with you my to-go websites and some tricks that I leaned after traveling to 23 countries. I have only traveled to Europe, Asia and Africa so I am basing my recommendation for these parts of the world.

When it comes to search for flights, I use the following search engines:
1. www.momondo.com - very good aggregator of flights, it shows you the best value for money, shortest trip and the fastest trips so you can choose from it. I have been using this for flights all around the world. I know it has also a renting hotels and cars option, but I never used this as I choose to book my accommodation other ways.
2. www.kayak.com - as well a very good aggregator, find pretty good deals especially for Africa. What I really like is the month view option if you are looking for the best deals and you are not constrained of a fix date to travel.
3. https://www.google.com/flights?hl=en - I haven'y used this one to much, I merely use it to compare it with the ones that I mentioned above. To be honest, I kind of replaced skyscanner with google flights and I am just using it as a compare method for now. I use it to compare budget airlines in Europe, like Wizz, Ryanair and easyjet.
4. www.airasia.com - this is the gold gem of traveling in Asia.Honestly, I think this is the only website you need to know when traveling in Asia. It covers all places in Asia and has awesome prices and constant promos. You can download their app and use it for boarding and check in faster. The best value for money for traveling in Asia.
5. www.jetstar.com - this is best to use if you want to fly cheap to Australia- yes, you heard me correctly, you can fly cheap from Asia to Australia - or if you are in Singapore and you want an alternative to Airasia. You will find good deals as well but a bit of a higher value for your money, as they are a Singaporean company.
But that is not all. During the time, I come up with a list of tricks, if I can call them like that, that I use almost all the times I travel.
1. Lately I use the aggregators above to find the cheapest flight but I do my booking direct from the airline page, as I skip the booking fees like this. You can also have mileage but you need to have a lot of flights in order to have it worth. So far, I got 2 free trips on AirAsia from my mileage so this is something to take into consideration especially on budget airlines.
2. If possible, I try to not fly between Frida- Monday as these are the most used days and they are also the most expensive. If you want to get something cheaper then Tuesday-Thursday are your days.
3. The flights that are at inconvenient hours are cheaper. Like 2 am or 5 am. I actually enjoy it because the airport is not so crowded and I like to get there early and not waste half a day on flying.
4. Browse in PRIVATE MODE when looking for your flights. I made a test and it is real that the fares go up. Also, there is a difference if you search from a Mac or Windows- Mac is more expensive. I know, it is annoying but if you use private mode, you can use this technique and not get surprised why the fares went up with 10 dollars since your last search.
5. If you are looking for great deals no matter the destination, try this: https://www.secretflying.com/ . This has crazy crazy deals worldwide at insane prices, but you need to be fast and also not be able to solve your visas fast, but it is worth taking a look into.
Hope this was useful and happy traveling :)
